Bit-Setting for DVD-ROM

Hey,

Is there a way in DVDA to change the bit setting for DVD+Rs. It is a way to make readers think the dvd is a DVD-ROM, and not a DVD+r, so it is more compatible. I use Nero to burn, but it overrides any setting made in another program, so I thought I would see if DVDA can set it.

I tried burning with DVDA, but the setting didn't seem to take - used DVDInfo to set and check. I through maybe there was another setting somewhere.

Thanks.

DVDA doesn't have any mechanism like Nero that allows you to change the booktype on burners that support this.

Remember that the ability to set the booktype on +R media depends on the firmware in your burner. Many of the single layer dual format burners do not support changing the booktype for +R media (though hacked firmware may be available). However, many of the newer double layer burners do support changing the format for DL+R media (and in some cases, they automatically write DVD-ROM regardless - Pioneer burners for example); a few of them even support changing the booktype for SL+R.

There are a couple of utilities available that will let you change the booktype if your burner supports it: DVD Bitsetter, KProbe, DVDInfoPro, WinBType (to name a few).

Well, my HP laptop drive wouldn't support it, but my HP deskop NEC drive did. I set it with DVDInfoPro, burned with architect, and DVDINFO says it is DVD-ROM. So I guess it worked in the end.
