Bitrate Primer

Does anyone have a good primer to get started truly understanding bit rates and how to make the most of my Vegas suite?

Also, in a few weeks I'll be taking about 2300 ft of 8mm film in AVI format and working with it.

Are there any places to get prepared for working with and touching up this old (digitized) 8mm film?

You've got quite a bit of posting there fella. Do you ever get work done on your own projects?

Could you help me narrow it down--how about a time period...I'd be happy to search with a bit more guidance.
