yes... it has been discussed before on these forums.

Not something I have ever done, but I think it's called 'colour-pass' (or 'color-pass'!) - try searching the forum.

I think DSE created a tutorial on how to do it in Vegas, which might be on the Vasst web site.

Yes. It's done with the Color Corrector (Secondary) FX. Just play around with it to get the results you wont.

Thank you all for your help. I can't believe how easy it is! Once I get the item, in this case, a dress, isolated and colored, anyone know how I can change the color?

For example, it's green and I'd like to make it red with the rest of the picture B&W.

Secondary color corrector lets you change the hue of anything you have isolated. For more complex tasks you will need to create a mask using the secondary color corrector. That is beyond the scope of what I have time to explain here.

jetdv's (Edward Troxel) newsletters, specifically Vol. 1 #11 (Doing a Color Pass), Vol. 2 #10 (Color Pass Reprised - Passing Multiple Colors) & Vol. 3 #4 (“Pleasantville” Effect) are great resources for learning how to do this.
