black at end of menu

I'm using the DVDA Trial to try it out before buying. Having an odd problem. I have a custom MPEG that I want to use at the menu background. Inserted it fine, but for some reason DVDA inserts a few black frames at the end. I KNOW those are not there in the original file. I set the background to loop, but the black frames actual render to the final burn.

Anyway to avoid this?

try changing it from loop to hold. I just put a video in DVDA that I know has no black frames at the end & with hold it just stayed there. I also used loop.

Also make sure the menu length is the same as the background video. If it's set to "auto" it could be making it longer for some strange reason. Or if you specified it there could of been rounding up slightly that gives you a black frame.

Ah thanks, I just thought that menu length should automatically be set to the background video length. Why can't they make software just little more intelligent? I really want it to loop as that is how I designed the MPEG for the background.

You were correct. For some odd reason, DVDA added also a whole second. Really odd.

Now I have a second problem. The menu edit preivew look low rez which is fine. I can click Preview Disc and the menu looks great, but after rendering, the final burn to disc looks more like the edit preview. Really bad jaggy diagonal lines. Am I over looking some setting?

Found it.... Recompress Video 1 at 'default' bitrate. Now just have to find out why it is set so low and where it is.

it normally does use the media length, but if you placed a longer piece of media on there by accident it will change it.

i tell the video to not-recompress. It's under the preferences though.

Ah... yes, I did replace the default background with my own which was probably shorter.

The main video didn't recompress, but the Menu did because of 'composited graphics' which I assume is the buttons. So far I'm really liking the features although lacking a bit in 'ease of use'.

it gets a lot easier with use. I can fly through most things now in DVDA. Even make "hidden" buttons & what not. :D

FWIW I always try to trim the end of any menu &/or intro video in DVDA -- if you look at the timeline (zoom in as far as possible) you'll almost always see the track extending beyond the last frame. Setting the duration to the last frame takes a few extra moments, but generally is the only way I know of to assure that the last frame shown is video -- not black.
