black bars on sides of still?? (PAL 720x576)

I tried to use a 720x576 (PAL-DV)Photoshop image as a title and I get black edges on both sides with Vegas. Can anyone tell me why? This exact file worked perfectly as a title page in Final Cut Pro. (I tried making the file 800x576 and it almost worked - I just got thin black edges at top and bottom. So I think I can come up with ta work-around but why doesn;t 72-x576 work???)

The correct size is 787x576. Sometimes it's best to not ask why ;)

I was getting black bars on the left and right of my PAL video rendered to 320 x 240. but it turned out that I had selected the wrong pixel aspect. When I changed to 1.0 everything was OK.

CLick on the clip and the icon that allows you to change the size of the picture,(event Pan/Crop) then right clik on the where the picture is in this box and select, "Match Output Aspect" that shuld do the trick.
