Black flicker from nowhere?

I have a 06:30 minute promo *.avi file I'm ready to "prepare and burn" to a "single movie" dvd. Toward the end I get a black flicker or two when I drop the *.avi into the media track - even prior to rendering and burning. It's as if the file doesn't quantify exactly and compensates by dropping in a tine black sequence, not even a full frame when I zoom 'way in, showing 3/4 from frame 17 to 18????

I have never encountered this before. Any tips? Darryl

This happened for me when my Audio was slightly longer than the Video. I had to fix in Vegas and rerender. John.

Thanks, I'll give that a shot. I've been unable to see anything wrong with the file on the timeline. And it renders just fine as a wmv file. Whew! Darryl

I'll be darned! I had a audio track that extended for a few seconds beyond the video tracks fading to black. Extended my video tracks and modified the fades to get the same effect and voila! No flicker!

Thank you so much, John. I'd wrestled with this for a day and a half. Saved my final project. Darryl

My solution was to insure that the audio and video tracks in Vegas were "quantized to frames" (Options-Quantize to Frames) and both were exactly the same length on the timelines - to the frame. I rerendered the project and the flickers went away.

If this doen't work, we might need more complete info on your project and your system. Darryl
