Black Frames in Veg file playback!

After being unable to render out ot MPEG2 in Vegas Pro 11 (511) moved over to Vegas 10 and got the job done.
Now after revisting Vegas 11 I discover it is producing black frames while playing back the Veg file, acting in the same fashion as when I try to render to MPEG2.
BTW, no porblem rendering out to MPEG4 in Vegas 11.
So go figure.
There is so much information scattered about the forum, I wonder do we have a solution for Vegas 11 and is that solution not to use it? Upgrade to a video card Beta driver? Defect to Premier Pro? Get formatted and come back as an apple head? Jump off a bridge?

Hi,

Did you check that the project properties are using an 8-bit pixel format, and NOT floating point?

It looks like there is a bug in Vegas when multithreading is enabled and when the floating point format is used. I have reported the issue to Sony, but did not get a definitive answer, so it's just an assumption or mine so far.

So meanwhile, what you could try:
- select the 8-bit pixel format in the project properties
- set the max number of threads to 1 (in Options > Preferences > Video)
- disable the GPU acceleration (in Options > Preferences > Video)

With the last 2 points, you will obviously loose performance, but you might eliminate the black frames.

Hope this helps,
