Black Mask/ Border on Still Pics.

I'm currently in post on a documentary and in the portions where there are still pictures a black border/mask appears. I'm unsure how to get rid of it and have the photo fill the frame. I tried to hide the black border by putting a solid white background behind the photo. The mask still seems to leak in the top and bottom corners. Basically, how do i get the photo image to fill the frame without changing the aspect ratio.

Thanks everyone

Here's what i do:

- Select Pan/Crop for the image
- Turn off Lock Aspect Ratio (the button that looks like a small blue rectangle in a larger white rectangle)
- Enter the proper still image size values manually (654.5x480 for NTSC, 787x576 for PAL)
- Make sure both Maintain aspect ratio and Stretch to fill frame are checked
- Turn Lock Aspect Ratio back on.
- Drag the edges of the cropping frame in or out as necessary to show the part of the picture you want to display. What is within the dashed lines will fill the frame exactly.

If the image looks distorted in the preview window, try right-mouse button clicking the preview and selecting Simulate device aspect ratio.

For a variety of reasons, the stills may not fit the 720x480 aspect ration of DV. I usually will drop stills onto their own track and use the track pan/crop to resize the track up until I get complete screen fill.
