I've seen the same thing with HEIC images from iPhone 16 Pro. Converted them to JPG for use. Versions 21 and 22 can display them.

@RogerS Here's a couple of photos you can try, one is HEIC from my Samsung S23 Ultra, the other from a friends iPhone 13 mini HEIF. I don't have VP23 to try them.

FWIW I was able to load your two HEIC into VP 23.356 with other HEIC in a project also including 4K media. (tested using my laptop)

Probably it's not only depending on the picture format, in a project I'm working on, a background image (jpg) suddenly turns into black during editing. Only way I could get it back was to save the project and restart Vegas with the project.

Are the photos HEIC? Could you make one available for download?

These are not , the images are JPG format images from sumsung s25 , At the beginning of the clip, there are images that work in JPG format , and that's what's strange. I tried going through all the images and lowering the resolution, and that didn't work either.

This like my problem in version 23, can you explain to me in detail what you did?

@ami-s as mentioned, I just restart Vegas and the still, in my case just a background, is back. As soon as I continue editing the background suddenly disappears. I finished my edit, saved the project, closed Vegas, restarted Vegas and immediately rendered the project with background. When renders finished the background again disappeared in the preview. So before rendering final project, restart Vegas and check if images are present in preview, start rendering without further actions on the timeline.

That is why i'm still on Vegas 21 version

I edit with a lot of jpg photos and never had a black screen from my camera (Panasonic) images.

I haven't put a border around the images outside of using Layer Dimenstionality on portrait images. And still, nothing goes black.

@Reyfox At the moment when I render a project with jpg, after the render all jpg go black and do I have to restart VP23 to make them visible again.

@3POINT, I trust your words, and would like if possible for you to provide a couple of those jpg's for me to try?

Here is a video I recently did that is loaded with lots jpgs. No issues rendering (well, there was with Magix H264 AMD VCE, had to use AV1 because there were some images with pixelated parts).

Thanks for the response, I don't want to send because they are private photos, I even converted them to webp files. and it still didn't help, I handled it the way I did, I rendered the video and where there was a black screen I added a video line, and this is how I put the photos . It's really unprofessional, but I had no choice, in ver 22 it's not happen

Not asking for private photos, I was asking @3POINT, or for that matter, anyone who has a jpg that previews "black".

@ami-s what created the jpgs?

I get even black jpg when created with Vegas, so it's not a camera issue. Just a restart brings them back.
