black screen, no sound

I can't get my project to render. It was working ok last night. then i went to work on it this morning and it shows the clip, complete with the picture in the clips, but the preview screen is black. when played in the trimmer the clips work. it's only from the main timeline that they don't.

Sound doesn't work from the main timeline either.

I have vegas 9.0 platinum. I don't know what's going wrong. thanks!

Go to the trimmer and toggle "Show Video Preview"
See if that helps.

nope, i thought you were onto something but it only played the clip that was in the trimmer, not the edited clip in the timeline.

Then un-highlight the split screen icon in the preview window. You must have set it to "clipboard."
