Black triangle near end of titles/text event ALSO black line near ends

Per the attached screen snip, what is this little black triangle near the end of an animated Titles/Text event? I get this little triangle occasionally, and at the point of the triangle the text resets back to what it was at the beginning of the event. I always match the time of my text events, so why does this appear? Is there a way to prevent this, or fix it when it appears. I've previously dealt with this by either extending the time in the Titles & Text dialog box, or moving, clipping the beginnng and / or end of the event, but then I lose the synch keyframe points.

The other thing, in snip # 2, I see a black line near the ends of events on the timeline, what does that black line mean?

I'd appreciate any guidance. Both of these things are driving me crazy. Is there any point in the manual that explains what these things are and how to avoid them?

Re the little black triangle, that notch means that event on the timeline is longer than the length of the original media. With Titles & Text, the original length of the media is 10 seconds so lengthening that title will get the notch if the event on the timeline is stretched to longer than 10 seconds. This can be corrected by opening Titles & Text and in the T&T window click on the "Match Event Length" button.

Doing this removes the notch because the T&T event's length - as shown in the Duration field in the T&T window - is now increased to the match the actual length on the timeline.

Another way to do this is to manually increase the event length in the Duration field.

@anthony-chiappette The little black triangle indicates that the event is 'Loop playing', IE. That is the end of the video & it starts to repeat.

For text follow Dexcons advice, try it on text that has movement, drag one of the moving text presets to the timeline & drag the end to shorten it, you'll see the text doesn't complete it's movement, (or as you've found out it repeats 'Loops' plays if you lengthen it). Click the Match Event Length button & it will make the text play correctly just once within the length of the stretched or shortened event.

For media such as videos there's some right click options which are fairly self explanatory. Those options are also in - Right click on the event - Properties & there's also an option in Preferences .

The black I think is just a ghost that indicates the Head/Tail thumbnail of the event. This can be seen if the thumbnail option is changed in preferences, choosing Head, Tail those 2 thumbnails appear from where those black lines are...

As I mentioned, I always match the length, using a scrip that a kind soul had posted. Here is the event time, and the time in the dialog. You can see the triangle is still there, it's only near the end.

Thank you, GID. But what would there be to loop if the lengths match on the event and the generated media? As I've mentioned, I always match the lengths. I use a script that was posted here to do this automatically for all my generated media, but even if I go in manually and click the match length button, it will still happen occasionally.

The head and tail thumbnails make sense. There's a white line at the beginning and a black line at the end. i do have show all thumbnails enabled.

@anthony-chiappette I don't know how to describe it but if you shorten the start of the event - drag the left edge in to the right & then drag the right edge out to the right so it shows the black triangle clicking Match Event Length doesn't work

Also if you use the Slip tool & drag the media within the event Match Event doesn't work

I think this has something to do with the content of the event being offset to the event boundary itself.. Perhaps your script is doing something like this...

No, I don't drag the left edge. I had done that in the past, and realized it caused this issue. I slide the event left to match the starting point, then I drag the right edge. I do this before matching the length. However, I cannot guarantee that I may have absent mindedly dragged the left edge to the start of the video event.

Thank you.
