Black/White Filter - lots of noise

I have noticed when i apply a black/white filter to a clip (which was shot in poor lighting) - the resulting effect is very grainy (noise) black/white.

Any suggestions to make it look a bit better?
(blur filter/adjust brightness/contrast etc??)

How are your tests coming along?
Low light......grainy to begin with. Could try playing with the Color Balance plugin before using the B&W, then Color Curves.
Have you tied the Saturation Adjust....in the Plugin Pack? You can use this to bring to a B&W, then with color curves.......or contrast...
