Is there any advantage to using the Blackmagic 10-bit codec with V5 if the input is always DV? Output, by definition is to .mov, which is playable only on a computer. Is this any way to get around the 8-bit limitations of V5?
You can't get around the 8 bits in V5. Always 8Bit, at least at this time.
I did do some tests about a year ago with the 10 bit codec, and while Vegas is still processing at 8 bit, there was a small difference in how the codec managed things.
Bitjazz has some interesting stuff too.
If you're going to play with codecs, read this CLEARLY!
DO NOT INSTALL the latest LEAD codecs. It breaks Vegas, it breaks Media Player, it breaks Real. Only Quicktime got by unscathed.
And a rollback doesn't help.
