Q's:

Are the gaps at edit points, or in the middle of events?
If you place bars on a track below a gap, do they show in the preview with the cursor on the gap?
If you "slip" the event (Alt-drag) with the gap, does the gap move?
If you duplicate the track, do the gaps duplicate too?
If you add a track above, and move the event with the gap UP to the new track, does the gap move too?
If you open an additional session of Vegas (have two running at the same time) and copy the event with the gap to the new session of Vegas, does the gap copy too?

Any other strange behavior?

Sorry for all the questions, I cannot reproduce this issue on my system.

The gaps appear in the middle of clips, even before editing and don't move when you slip them.
Any track below the clip shows through were the gap is.
Duplicating track duplicates the gaps.
If I move the track with gaps up to a new track above the gaps don't move.
If I copy the event with gaps to a new session of Vegas the gaps apear in exactly the same place.

Gaps appear even when you preview the unedited/loaded clip in Vegas Explorer but not if you play it in WinDVD.

Hope this helps solve this strange problem.

Well... Sorry to make ya jump through the hoops there, I didn't know the source footage was a divx file.

Divx is not a supported format in Vegas (altho some users are toying with it).

We are hearing about somewhat similar issues with DV avi files; which is a concern.

In the case of Divx, Vegas is probably not optimized to decompress and display all frames, resulting in any number of weird results.

I doubt this Divx issue is related to the issue with the DV avi files, but if you see similar black frames in any DV avi files, feel free to shout-out.
