i've made a project from a xvid coded avi. i saved the project, and let it rest for a few days. after a system crash and a reinstal as i open the .veg file this is what i see www.silent.dolsat.pl/blank.jpg all other files do work when i put them into vegas, but when i put the original uncut file, it is also blank/black. i've reinstalled the program and i have all the posiible codecs xvid, WMV, XP + SP1 also checked the nVidia cloning settings. HELP i need to finish the film in a few days.

go reinstall the xvid codec, it should be fine. Why were you using a non-Sony codec in the first place? You gain nothing, lose a lot.
http://www.xvid.org gets you to the codec.

install this xvid build (versions at xvid.org are outdated) :
XviD-1.0-09052004.exe (613kb) The Final! (installer) final build 1.0 datecode may 5, '04
http://www.roeder.goe.net/~koepi/xvid.shtml

install then ffdshow (which works better w/ vegas) http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail.php3?fid=1054056131
datecode may 21, '04

You never answered Spot's question. I'm curious to know why, too.

the compilled codec is here http://www.roeder.goe.net/~koepi/xvid.shtml .. not at xvid org

just load your file into virtualdub and frame serve it to vegas then ...

if you cant open a xvid (or a divx for that mater) in vegas -- load it into avisynth or virtualdub and frame serve it or convert it to another format ..

more info on frame serving at www.videohelp.com

use "replace" in the media pool ...

a VERY powerful feature once you start using proxies //
