Just duplicate the clip, then on the upper clip, use the Pan/Crop Mask tool to mask around your license plate. Then, apply the Pixelate or Blur PlugIn to the upper clip.

If you need to track a moving license plate, just keyframe it from within the Pan/Crop window.

This procedure is documented in my newsletter. Take a look at the "Blurring Faces" article.

Why would you want to do that unless you are breaking some laws with the car in the film?

It's not like your license plate is much of a secret since it is displayed whenever you drive around. I've known people outside the US to be more concerned about it. Just like to know the reason, as I never do and maybe I should be.

Its just mainly for the safety of my car, i dont want anyone to know where I live by jus reviewing the film over and over till they get my lisence plate. How many lisense plate do you recall by driving behind someone today on you way home? do you recall? most dont and by having it permanetly in the video they can review it over n over again. So that was my intention not because I was doing something illegal.

OK, I guess since my vanity plates are pretty well known, I don't worry about it. Both my cars have appeared in magazines and on various websites without me knowing about it, only having people who know me tell me about it. In fact I just found out today my car was in another magazine.

Nothing special about the cars, just happen to be at events and people who know me recognize the plates and let me know.

Hmmm - maybe I should be concerned. The DMV is not supposed to give addresses any more, even if they did, mine's a PO Box.

Ther's that magic paint that fools the speeding cameras. I believe you will need film in infa-red. Why not put false plates on for filming? You could make a plate like "VEGAS5B"
