BluRay support will come at some point for DVD Architect, as burners settle out and become more available. We have a BD burner right now, but can't author anything with it in any affordable application, including all the "We support BD" applications.

BD has three formats available; mpeg 2, AVC, and VC1. Vegas currently supports all three. But DVD Architect doesn't have BD authoring tools available.

Oh come on Spot, you can't afford BLU-PRINT?

Corug, I offered to Beta-test it...and was politely declined. ;-)
I surely would like to try it though. It's disappointing that all the products that hyped "BluRay supported!" for the past 9 months don't actually support it. Yes, you can burn a DVD with some of the products, but the long and short of it is, you can't author a DVD. So, while some are griping that DVDA doesn't currently support it, neither does anything else, making those that marketed BD support look a little foolish right now. At least the DVDA team never claimed it would support BD.

Thanks for the info, Spot. I've been looking into several of those products, especially Ulead's, just to get a foot in the door (the company I work for has a Scenarist, but I don't think we're ready for the upgrade just yet). Your viewpoint is always appreciated.

Interesting u say this.. one thing i found about the way DVDA has been produced over the years, is that is has STRICTLY complied with the DVDForum standards for DVD Video.. to a T... no.. this si coming, so we'll start supporting it.. no.. when a "feature" is authorised and approved.. then and only then do we see it on DVDA.. which IMO is a good thing.
I was not aware that there were no authoring tools for BD as this time, and Ulead and the others seem to be misinforming many users in an attempt to nail teh market share before it even exists... Maybe for data files, but not as in true DVD Authoting with menus and the like...

Even so... BD and HD DVD are now verified to use certain codecs... i would assume that the issue now is the file system of the discs which is what is hanging in the air..
not the codecs... codecs are sorted.. its the file system that seems to be baffling people..
With teh HD DVD, the files seem to be on DataHDDVD discs, and as the units run Linux, the OS recognises the movie and either plays it or shows it up on the discs directory (this is from what ive seen so far from US users.. not actual 1st hand experience.. so i might be wrong here.. )
I guess HOW the discs are authored and how the files are managed are yet to be confirmed.. (if it has, im not aware of it.. )

Who knows.. from what i can see.. theres really no point in persuing it until BD and HD DVD really stain the market with their pee... once their stains start to smell a bit, then we should have a High Def capable DVDA (or should that read BDarchitect.. lol)
