Blu-Ray in Dolby 5.1

BrunoBibou wrote on 10/20/2013, 4:13 AM
Hi all,
I just bought a new camera which allows me to record in Dolby 5.1. I just bought Movie Studio Platinum 12 with DVD architect 5.0. What a surprise to discover that I can burn a DVD with Dolby and not a BluRay. I thought the contrary would be the right choice as HD sound comes with HD image. Is there a foreseen update that will correct that. I am reluctant to pay 100€ more to get DVD Pro.
Thank you.
Bruno

Steve,

I had the impression that Movie Studio could burn a Blu-ray with 5.1 sound, albeit without a menu. Is that not correct?

You can burn a Bluray from Movie Studio / DVDA Studio with PCM 5.1 audio, correct?

Correct.

So the only downside is that the audio takes up more space.

Hi Tog and Music. A great thanks.
My only concern is that, when I do new project, BluRay the only audio choice that appear is PCM Stereo. Where can I find the PCM 5.1.
Thank you again,

Is it not possible to create a 5.1 surround project?
;?)

It certainly is possible in Movie Studio 10.

Hi Guys,

I think I understand where the lack of understanding comes fom. I will try to be more precise. When I import my video to Movie Studio and put on the timeline, no problem the 5 soundtracks appear and I can work with all.
The problem is with DVD architect Studio 5. When I render my project, if I want to burn a DVD, then I can keep my 5.1 sound and burn the DVD as it. If I want to burn a BR disc then the only option I have is PCM stereo. Then my audio will be modified to fit PCM stereo when rendering and burning.
So I guess this is something deliberately thought by Sony to make a difference between DVDA studio and DVDA Pro. I will then wait for a promotion on the upgrade and go to DVDA Pro.
Thanks for your time and your answers.

You can now purchase DVDA Pro as a separate product, i.e. without Vegas Pro. I'm not certain whether DVDA Pro 6 can produce Blu-Ray in Dolby 5.1 from Movie Studio output though.

Bluray Dolby 5.1 requires the Dolby Pro encoder. Dolby Studio is broken for this, perhaps on purpose. Likewise, I do not know what is included with this standalone offering.

A big thank you at you two.
As I do not want to invest in VEGAS Pro (too expensive for my needs), I will then turn to Sony to see if DVD pro can burn in Dolby from a movie studio project.
Kind Regards,
Have a nice day.

Hi Guys,
I received an answer from Sony which I posted on another thread about rendering in 5.1.
MusicVid, in that thread you advise to stick with Pro 5.2 if there is no will to burn 3D projects, which is my case. Unfortunately, I try to navigate on the net this morning and I do not seem to be able to buy no stand alone DVD pro apart from the 6 version.
What would you recommend ?
Thanks,
Regards,
Bruno
