Blu-Ray Media: All BD-R created equal?

I have yet to get into blu-ray burning but the prices are getting (slightly) more attractive now. My question, for those of you who're in the game already, what is your experience with playback compatibility? My guess is, just like DVD-R, some BD-R media works better than others. Or is blu-ray truly a different animal, and this time it's all good?

I've seen Verbatim 25 GB BD-R as low as $7 each, although $10 - $15 is more common. But obviously, if it doesn't work reliably, it's not a bargain.

I'm using the $7 injet printables (25gig) and out of about 45 burns now I have not had one failure. I suspect longevity may be a different ballgame, but I figure we'll cross that bridge if/when we come to it.

I think on average though the disks are simply LOOKING cheap because they're being sold for less when in actual fact the cheaper ones are merely reflecting the normal price dropping as a technology becomes settled in.
