can someone give me instructions to make a blue ray disc from a 5-10 min long video? I need instructions for Sony Vegas 8 and if Architect is needed, I'm using version 5.0. Is it true though that the disc can be made without architect?
Thank you
First off it's blu, not blue. Secondly, these days, DVD architect comes with Vegas, so once you'll upgrade to Vegas you'll have it. If you need to use it depends on what kind of blue, ooops (I do it too.), blu-ray disc you want to burn
As it says here http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/vegaspro/bluray
Burn Blu-ray Discs directly from the Vegas Pro timeline
With Vegas Pro 8 software you can burn a Blu-ray Disc directly from the timeline. Blu-ray Disc burning allows you to create a disc similar to a "single movie" DVD — the movie has no titles, menus, or buttons. Blu-ray Disc burning in Vegas Pro 8 software provides an alternate distribution option for high-definition content, rather than traditional file-based hard disk or streaming media formats. You can also use the Blu-ray Disc burning feature to create high-definition discs that can playback on a set-top Blu-ray Disc player or on a Sony PS3 gaming system.
There are some versions that don't come with DVDa (the cut down B&H Photo version for $130 for example)
The problem with burning Blu Ray off the time line without DVDa is that there is no AC3 encoder (the AC3 license is in dvda and you can not create DD5.1 sound without dvda at least installed. AC3 is pretty much the standard for Blu Ray audio.
The other issue is that you can not burn menus from the time line... just a BDAV type disk. It is HIGHLY recommended that you get the FULL version of Vegas if you're going to do Blu Ray. Others have found this out the hard way.
