Blue Screening & Titler failures [Vegas 13]

Kit wrote on 9/12/2015, 7:49 PM
My computer keeps blue screening.. It happens when Vegas is active and I try to go online or am online and close Vegas. Notifications are switched off. I was using Build 428 and installed Build 453 but it is still happening. Sony Pro Titler and NewBlue Titler 3 don't work either. Does all this suggest a Video Driver problem? Currently using GeForce GTX 550 Ti v334.89. Suggestions please for how to fix this. Thanks.

Bluescreen is hardware failure, or drivers that are not appropriate for the OS. Normally for most situations, its hardware failure. Details in the BSOD can sometimes offer information where to look.

Here are something I would try:

Check windows system log and look for errors.

Try Memtest and verify your installed memory.

With system shutdown and unplugged from the wall, reseat memory, reseat installed PCIe cards, and re-patch cables.

Verify that your system is physically clean, fans running, and heat fins are unclogged.

Verify all system drivers are up to date for your OS and installed hardware:
MS Updates fully installed and rebooted
Video card
Network adapters
disk media controllers
Sound card
Intel chipset .INFs from intel (unless its an AMD system)

A tool like Speccy can help identify system hardware details, when searching for the correct drivers.

You may also want to see if your BIOS or Speccy can verify that your Power Supply if providing correct voltages across the different posts.

Look toward the bottom of the BSOD screen. If it has the name of a DLL that is causing the problem, check to see if that DLL is part of your graphics card drivers. If it is, then update your graphics drivers or back-level them to the last version supported by your card manufacturer.

See this as a reference:

That's an NVIDIA display driver problem.

John, where did you get that sample BSOD from? Your own? Kit's? Did Kit post it somewhere?

Grazie

It was a random example that I got from a Google of "BSOD". Sorry if it looked like it was related to the current problem. I just wanted to show one that had DLL information as an example of what to look for.
