Blue Shaded Area On Timeline

I have a blue shaded area on my timeline and I can't do anything with it there. When I click on the two yellow dots at the top of the timeline it says "loop region", I can't play anything on the timeline.
The line that is vertical on the timeline, I used to be able to move that across the timeline but now when I do all that happens is this blue shaded area comes up again.
How do I fix this?
Thanks for your help!!!

You may have inadvertently selected a Loop Region. Having a Loop Region is helpful for a variety of reasons. For example you want to preview a short bit over and over to see if your transitions or FX or whatever looks good. Or you want to render just a portion of a larger bit.

Anyway, you should be able to unselect the Loop Region by double clicking elsewhere. However this will select a new Loop Region. I find this annoying, so I have my Loop Region set to collapse when nothing is selected. You can do this by opening Options/Preferences and on the Editing tab, choose Collapse loop region when no time selection is present.

I hope that helps!

And I think pressing Q might help, You can convert a selection into a loop region this way and I de-select the loop- region with the same key (If not, try Shift + Q).
