bluescreen while rendering ???

I've been trying to render a project, but every time I try, Windows XP gives me a bluescreen of death after about 2 minutes.

Now in my experience, XP isn't supposed to bluescreen at all unless it's a SERIOUS problem...any ideas?

The only thing I can relate this problem to is a bad cpu fan that I replace a month ago for freezing up. The repair guy said that it didn't look like there was damage to the cpu....what do you think?

Here's what I run:
Win XP SP2
MSI K7N2 mobo
AMD Athlon XP2600+
768mb Ram
PowMax 480w PSU
Nvidia 5600FX 256mb
Audigy 5.1
200gb/80gb HDD's
Pioneer 105 & 108
etc.

I cant believe that some one is having the same prolem as i am. I get a blue scren too right after a few minutes. The blue screen is about IRQL_NOTLESS_EQUAL. I talked with a online assistant and he said it might be a bad hardware or your MoBo might have a problem. I dont get the blue screen not only when rendering, any time while i am using computer. I think i need a new MoBo. But does anybody have any idea about IRQL_NOTLESS_EQUAL problem because soon i am going to edit my home video and fearing the blue screen. Any help.

I only get the bluescreen under high cpu stress situations...usually rendering in Vegas and Doom3.

Figuring it was the cpu heating up, I installed Motherboard Monitor to check my temps...usually they sit at 54c and go up to 59c during rendering...still within specs for the cpu, no?

Sounds pretty warm to me.. On the other hand, AMD's do tend to run hotter than Intel (which means less margin for heat). My air cooled P4 runs at around 44c (according to the motherboard sensor) when it's idle (I've not looked at it when it's working hard). The hotest my water cooled P4 ever gets is 36c (according to the cooler sensor) and it only gets that warm during renders; when it's idle it's usually down around 33c.

AMD's web site says the internal die temp cannot exceed 85C - places I've checked on the internet suggest that external temps read by motherboards should be between 40-50c.

I'd say that given your symptoms, with it doing the BSOD only when you max out the CPU, that you're on the edge temp-wise and the CPU activity is pushing you off the cliff.

under the system's device manager, I found something that wasn't working properly, or that the drivers couldn't be found. I inserted the mainboard's driver cd into a drive and clicked 'update drivers' and told it to look in the optical drive.

The other thing was that I was having the rendering multiplex the video and audio...in the past, I've run into problems multiplexing through VV, so I usually send them out as elementary streams and let DVD-Lab do all the tough stuff

I guess PROBLEM FIXED is the words of the day. 8-)

well i hope my peoblem is fixed too because i havent got a blue screen since i changed my motherboards CMOS battery.
