BLURAY Encoding

Using Vegas Template I was given the option to use 23.976 pulldown or not.

I assume with a high quality Bluray this will play 24p on NTSC TV's without pulldown being neccesary?

I am also worried because (Confession time) I dont have a bluray player and the discs Im making are purely for festivals so although my computer can blurays I cant test on any players.. So I want to make sure Im not likely to be making coasters.

Im using the Mainconcept 24p 25mbps set to 24.976 with two passes and quality set to best ready for DVDA Who I know will accept without rerendering as I've tested it..

Is this option likely to play on all Bluray players if not what's the best way? Is there anything I should watch for like file size etc.

Thanks

Mark

If you don't want to purchase a BD player (less than $100 for a cheapie), take your disc to a store and try it on their player(s). Avoid unpleasant compatibility surprises.

Hi Chip

Well its not just a bluray player I'd need but a decent TV too and money is short because of wanting to save it for festivals I've been having this conversation today I should really upgrade.

Try it out in a store.. I think I'd be a little embarrased but better than having a coaster and not knowing it.. One good thing though I can play it on my laptop but thats not going to prove if it al play in a production BD player but then it may play in one and not another. If I try to find proven settings then test it on my laptop maybe thats enough or maybe get a sony BD player.

I author ice skating DVDs for parents, grandparents, etc. One time a lady could not get the menu on a DVDA4 disc that I made. I had to make a special disc for her that started automatically with no menus. I still put chapters on there but I doubt that she could use those either.

I almost went over to her house to see the disc player in person, but we never managed to schedule it. Out of 50 or so discs, hers was the only problem. I tested samples on the PC disc player, a portable player, a Pioneer Elite (nice unit) and a $60 player. Nowadays if it plays on the computer and my Oppo Blu-Ray/DVD, I'm happy.
