Blurring small areas

Ok, I've searched this forum and couldn't find anything on this topic. I may have missed it though, if I did, sorry for the repeat!

Anywayz, I want to blur a certain area of an event. For example, like on cops, a persons face with a blurred circle. I'm looking through the cookie cutters and it doesn't seem to offer a blur option that I can see. The black feathered circle would be perfect, but i want the circle to be blurry instead of black.

Anyone know how to do this??

Thanx!

You're on the right track ... just need to go a little farther.

Place your video clip in sync on two video tracks, one above the other.
Apply the blur filter AND the cookie cutter to the upper track. The part
that is cropped by the cookie cutter (and blurred or whatever effect you
choose) will overlay the full frame track. You can also use track motion
and key frames on the cookie cutter to move the blurred area around
as necessary.

Thanx! I did do it this way, and it works nicely. Just seems like there would be an easier way. U know? Like a cookie cutter effect, but instead of a colored circle (or square, or whatever), a blurred one. Would be alot easier!

And I'm just starting to realize the use of the keyframes. I'll hafta play around with those a little more to get the hang of it.

Thanx!

You can duplicate the video tracks, then add a parent mask track with a shape that cuts the hole you want to fill with the blurred video.
