Blurring vertical borders only of a pan/crop event

colin-anderson wrote on 1/12/2019, 11:01 AM

Hi,

I'm using Vegas Pro 16. I have two video tracks with a video event in each. Using Pan/crop, I have them move from from one side of the screen to the other, end to end. What I'm trying to do is blur the hard line of the overlapping event as it moves along (see screenshot). Of course I can achieve that with a blurred border effect but I just want the left and right sides to blur and not the top and bottom. I tried with a mask but it doesn't work. Is there a way to do this? I can't seem to figure it out.

Thank you for any assistance.

Probably you could use the Push transition with blurring sides to achieve this, when I understand you right.

Thanks 3POINT I'll look for that and give it a shot.

Ok, I tried it but as soon as I introduce the feather, to blur the line, it creates a visible band between the two events.

You could use the mask tool and add feather?

Does this look like something that might work for you.....

It was done with Pan & Crop, a vertical edge mask with blur

Yes, albeit a bit more feathered but that's the gist of it. How did you do that? I know how to create masks but can't seem to be capable of applying a mask with an effect on the edge of the event.
