Blurry Preview Monitor

Just upgraded from 8.0b to 8.0c. I've only been playing with it for 5 minutes. Right out of the gate, however, I notice that the preview monitor is extremely blurry on Preview (Auto), quite unlike 8.0b which was crisp and clear. To bring back the same quality I need to change the setting to Best (Full).

Anyone else experience this? Or have any idea whether this is by design?

Thanks.

Mark

"I notice that the preview monitor is extremely blurry on Preview (Auto), " extremely? hmm....

anyways . .

"quite unlike 8.0b which was crisp and clear." - and again .. not sure . . if this is like for like Mark?

"To bring back the same quality I need to change the setting to Best (Full)."

"Anyone else experience this?" Nope

"Or have any idea whether this is by design?" I would NOT have thought so??? Are you suggesting that SONY has made a backward step here?

Anyhooo .. please try Preview but FULL and see what that does for you.

Grazie

Extremely blurry? No

What I have noticed on 8.0c is that when I click a clip in explorer and see the preview, it is crisp and clear and seems realtime.

When I preview it from the timeline in best/full, it is not as crisp and clear and is not realtime.

I don't remember this happening in older versions. This is also with AVCHD files.

Question: Does it slow down the renders any by selecting the best/full preview instead of a lower resolution? I assume it takes some CPU power to generate a better preview, even when the monitor has gone to sleep and the render is continuing.

Well, I fixed my issue by turning off the 'Simulate Device Aspect Ratio' option. It now appears crisp and clear in Preview (Auto) mode.

BUT please note that with the 'Simulate Device Aspect Ratio' option on in 8.0b it was not blurry and distorted in Preview (Auto) mode. It is in 8.0c. Something has changed.

Minor issue, but still an issue.

Jeff9329,

I don't process AVCHD files. With HDV and DV files I can't replicate your issue. Everything is crisp and clear from both the Explorer and Timeline.

Is this happening with HDV and DV as well?
