blurry renders

I render my final project under 'best' and NTSC DV, but it still comes out blurry compared to the other editors work that's done on FC pro. Is it a Mac issue working with avi's, or am I missin somethin on the final render.

I saw my piece on TV for the show itself, and my stuff was a bit blurry and lower quality. What am I missing here?

Vegas reads DV contained in .mov files just fine, and it's the same as what's being used in FCP, file is no different.
If it's blurry, then it's something related to an effect, process, or other filter you've dropped on. Any chance you've turned opacity down? Dropped on a sharpening tool or other system-wide effect/filter? Any chance you had a motion blur track assigned? Why rendering to Best? Does your program material consist of a lot of stills?
Short answer is if you capture the same media or use the same file in FCP and Vegas, the output is exacty the same. Vegas will do a slightly better job at recompressing than FCP will unless you are using some of the 10 bit Bitjazz codecs in FCP, or other specialized codec in FCP using some of the hardware tools, and even then it's not that FCP is better, it just processes differently. Can't make it sharper/less sharp though. Not same source media.

Spot,
I wonder if you can help me out on this one. Similar to above issue, but maybe not the same. I capture clips from a Canon Optura 20 camera, no problems there. Edit thing in Vegas 5. Again no problems. i render to MPEG2 file and take into either DVDA 2 or DVD Workshop 2 and create menus, etc. Then I output to DVD. The clips are from dog agility trials. So have camera shots following dog and handler around the course. In the finished product it seems like there is alot of "pixelation" that surrounds the dog or handler when they are in motion. The faster they are, the more pixelation. If I save to avi file in Vegas and have the DVD authoring programs render, it is the same thing.

Here's the wierd part. I can take that exact same avi file and put it into Pinnacle Studio, create my DVD menus and have it render it and it is as clear as a bell.

Do you think I am not adjusting some proper settings in Vegas, prior to rendering???

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Galen

What does it show for the FPS of the imported clip in Vegas (your source)?

Also, try disablng resampling and see if that affects it. I am not certain what your problem is. But I have seen it where footage will slip a field after around 15 sec and look terrible if the clip is 30fps instead of 29.97. This occurs with or without resampling.

For frame rate it's the standard 29.97. If I can find the resample setting I will try and disable it.

Thanks.
