BM Intensity Pro and low preview quality

Hi all,

I have a working Black Magic Intensity Pro card, at least I think so. But when I use it to preview from vegas the quality is low, its like a low resolution preview. If I switch to windows second monitor the preview is fine. With the BMI card the edges are jagged and the whole picture seems pixelated.

Have I missed some settings? I have the vegas project resolution set to 1920x1080. Using HDMI to my preview monitor. There is 1920x1080 signal coming, but the content is in low resolution.

Any ideas?

Hi,
I use a BMD Studio 2 card to preview from timeline to an HDTV via HDMI.

You need to set preview to 'Best(Full)'. At least that's what I found.

I have tried that but coldn't see a big difference. It still looks like the signal is a 480p resized to 1080p without good interpolation since the pixels are visible.

I'm having the same problem. I am using it's component outputs to preview on my Sony broadcast monitor. Very jagged. Firewire preview out of Vegas run through my Canopus ADVC-100 into my Sony monitors s-video is much better quality.

Marc,

As well as the HDTV, I use a SONY broadcast monitor. The Decklink card simultaneously down-converts the HD signal to letter-boxed SD. I am using composite out and see no issues with the display.

Tried component out, but the monitor needs some sync signal which the Decklink card does not provide. Been through support about that and they confirmed it.

Before Decklink, my broadcast monitor was driven via firewire to a SONY DSR-25 deck and S-video out to the monitor.

I see no difference with my current setup.

edit: Just went back and checked. As long as preview is set to "Full", either with "Preview" or "Best", the display looks fine. If I set it "Auto" with either the display is blurred and soft.
