BM Pocket Cinema Camera now does RAW

GeeBax wrote on 11/12/2013, 2:52 PM
Blackmagic have now released a version 1.5 firmware update that allows the BMPCC to record 12 bit Cinema DNG files to an SD card in RAW format. A simple mathematical compression method, similar to that used for ZIP compression, allows the files to be stored without any loss of quality.

The Firmware update can be downloaded from a link on the Blackmagic site: http://www.blackmagicdesign.com/au/

Camera requires a Sandisk 64GB Extreme Pro SDHC UHS-1 (95Mb/s) card. Won't record on a 45Mb/s card (which is fine for ProRes HQ).

Hmm, I guess I rather thought that might be the case. Poo, that means more money to spend. Best price I can find is A$135.00

That is the question. Possibly will require an external recorder.

Actually, about 20 minutes. And no 12 bit output to an external recorder. Of course can take 10b uncompressed via HDMI.
