BMP import?

The introduction page in the help files very clearly states that it will import .bmp files, but when I try to import, it doesn't list .bmp as an option.

I would like to figure out how I can import a series of still images and turn them into video. I use a 3D renderer to render sequences of stills to create animations, and right now I have to use another program to compile the images into one .avi file before bringing them into VideoFactory.

Thanks for the help,
-Heath

Sure it does. The file type you're looking for is called Windows Bitmap. It is listed under W, not B. Click on the down arrow either from Inport Media or the down arrow way to the right on the Explorer tab or you could simply select show all files.

Drag your still images to the timeline. Once there each by default is a seperate event. You can apply transitions between each or pan and crop to add motion. Once happy with the results you can group so a select number of images behaves as one. You can do all the things with still you can with video files like add a sound track or overlays. Render as AVI or some other format and you'll have a fancy slideshow.

I'm afaraid there must be something wrong with it, then, because Windows Bitmap files aren't listed. I screen captured what is available to me and posted it here:

These are the onlt options I get when I choose File>Import Media.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

That is odd. Have you tried dragging the bmps from your dir in Windows's explorer onto VF workspace?

What version of VF?

Another thing to try:
Fid the file "stl2plg.dll" and drag it onto the workspace of VF. This is the still support file and for some reason it might not have registered itself with the system at install time.

Let us know how this turns out.

BTW, Nice sculptures

That doesn't work either...

2.0

BINGO! Thanks, that did it, once I closed and re-opened the program. Thanks so much! That makes life much easier for me...

Thanks! I use Rhinocerous (rhino3d.com)to do 3D renders of sculpture proposals, and now that I'm doing animated fly-throughs (to view the sculpture proposal from many angles), I bought VideoFactory to create movies from multiple fly-bys and stills, along with music and titles. So far it is very easy to use VideoFactory, and does everything I need for a very reasonable price. I've been recommending it to everyone on the Rhino newsgroup.

Thanks again for the help,
