Shame, it's almost worth the cost to upgrade JUST to get SPOT's Vegas 5 book .. it's brilliant! Plus you get some useful stuff on the DVD that comes along. Can't you upgrade to V5?

Yeah, I know. I am currently using 4.0 for my Wedding Montage and I would love to upgrade to 5.0. Haven't looked at the cost, do you know roughly how much it would be?

Spot wrote the book on Vegas 4 also. It's one of my basic reference manuals. See it at Amazon.com or at Wallmart.

So is Vegas 4 the same as Vegas Movie Studio + Dvd 4.0? I want to make sure before I pick up the Vegas 4 Editing Workshop book. I have VMS. I was looking at Instant Vegas 5 but that seems like it only touches on VMS where as I need something devoted to the program I am using.
Thanks in advance for any insight!

VMS isn't the same as Vegas 4, no. Vegas 4 is the older version of the professional software.
Our "Instant Vegas" book covers the VMS product fairly extensively, it might work for you.

I guess I'll buy Instant Vegas 5 and check it out. What about the new book that comes out in May...is that devoted to VMS 4.0?

yeah, but that book is likely going to be delayed a little.
