BORIS CONTINUUM TRIALWARE...

robert-falconer-taylor wrote on 9/8/2017, 12:15 PM

Hello,

I bought Vegas Pro 15 Suite with Boris Continuum 3D Objects Unit. But, it's installed the entire continuum range. All but the 3D unit is active. All the others are trials. Is it possible to remove all the clutter trialware I didn't buy? It just slows search/selection of Fx down which is not helpful. Interestingly, I entered the activation code I was given for 3D in another Fx and got a 'successful activation' message, but it doesn't. Many thanks. Robert

I have the same problem and not only me. I searched different forums and everyone who upgraded to vegas 15 has same problem.

Yes, please MAGIX straiten this out for us. i agree, I'd rather not have the extra bloat... just the one I bought and can use. Less confusion and load time.

Looks like you should be able to selectively remove Fx using the Plug-In Chooser pop-up. But the Remove button doesn't actually do anything. Any way to activate this?

That remove button just removes the plugin from the plugin chain. It does not remove it from the system.

You could look under c:\Program Files\Common Files\OFX\Plugins and see if the ones you want to remove are listed separately.

This has always been the case with Boris stuff and Vegas. Not sure if it's the same in other NLE's.

I have looked in c:\Program Files\Common Files\OFX\Plugins and also searched the registry to see if i can find a path, but no joy :>(

I just uninstalled  Boris Continuum and got my nove clean Fx list back. if i need 3D text I guess I will just reinstall it, use it and remove it again. Oh well....

wwjd wrote on 9/9/2017, 9:42 AM

Is there a list somewhere of SPECIFICALLY which plugs we got with our purchase? I don't want to have to be poking around to determine which are active and which are not.

Go to C:\Program Files\Boris FX, Inc\BCC Presets 10 OFX\ and either rename the plugin folders, which you do not want, or move them somewhere else. For example C:\Program Files\Boris FX, Inc\BCC Presets 10 OFX\BCC Art Looks\ to C:\Program Files\Boris FX, Inc\BCC Presets 10 OFX\BCC Art Looks-backup\ Restart Vegas, the renamed or moved plugin folders will not be listed in the FX panel.

Buying a bundle product with another software always had sales gimmicks attached to it. I never purchase bundled products.

robert-falconer-taylor wrote on 9/9/2017, 11:50 AM

Thank you suhaib-siddiqi. HERE IS THE BETTER SOLUTION. After uninstalling Boris, I just re-installed it (boriscontinuum3dobjectsunit.exe), and there is an option to select what you want to install. Just check the 3D objects option and that's all you get.

I now remember when I installed this I checked all the options which is why I got all the trialware. RESPECT to Matrix, this is not their problem, and even Boris gave the option. PROBLEM SORTED very easily :>)))

..how does 'Boris3D Objects' stack up to Titler Pro

Both Boris BCC and NBFX Titler Pro offer trials ... that's the best way to find out for yourself which is best based on your editing needs.

I have both TP6 and Boris Title Studio (BCC10), and both are excellent IMO. If you want animations/FX/transitions/etc in your titles, TP6 might be better for you, though I'm not yet sure what Title Studio offers under BCC11. The downside with NBFX TP is that it is not as sturdy as Boris, suffering more reliability problems than Boris. NBFX support has been excellent - as has Boris support on the few times I've needed it, mainly for activation reasons like when a hard drive failed and the previous install hadn't been de-activated for obvious reasons.

NBFX TP5 and 6 are both more flexible than Title Studio (BCC10), offering greater control over extrusions (multiple if you want), drop shadows, and fills such as video and images. Triple text colors are also available in TP whereas I've only found 2 colors to be available in Title Studio.

TP also has the advantage of better integrating with Vegas Pro in that you can adjust your titles in TP while live viewing the results in Vegas Pro. On the other hand, after closing Title Studio but still retaining the Video FX window, Title Studio offers a very useful Transformations sections that allows for live reframing in Vegas Pro, but it is global for the entire title.

Both programs are excellent for a variety of reasons, but only you know what you editing needs are - and thus - after trailing both of them, which will best satisfy your requirements.

Thank you @Dexcon, that explains the differences quite well! I had a first look at BC titler yesterday but it looked a little flat and simple alltogether compared to NB. Did like their DOF though, but not sure about the ease of editing..

I think you were allowed to use some parts of BCC 10 by the suite version of VPro 15. That's a different peace of cake.

Well, I bought BCC 10 long before I upgraded to Vegas Pro 15 Suite 😉

I just don't bother with any product labelled Boris, they don't licence properly either when you change machines - unistalling from one and re-installing on another. I would never buy anything from them, it's all too flakey
