Boris Continuum7 plug in First Video

My goal was to try out a LOT of the new features I got with BCC7. Some didn't make the final cut but I'm sure you guys can pick out the ones that did.

I upgraded to 521 and I'm not sure if it's the new plug-in or the BluesClues Titler but I had more crashes than I care to remember... really bad. Most of the crashes happened while I was scrubbing through clips and when I was using the titler. And the final scare was after rendering was complete, I got the proper pop up asking or open video or the containing folder yet all that was waiting for me was the video.mp4.tmp file. I renamed it and it played fine... strange.

Jim, I very much enjoyed that. Now I wish I was a dog.

Beautiful! Was this shot with your Nikon D7000?

"STOP all doodles" looks like rally nice motion tracking, at least the "doodles" part does.

Thanks guys. I shot this video this past summer with my Cannon HF21. The D7000 focusing system can't handle that doodle.

Yes, the stop sign was dropped in using the 4 corner pinning feature of BCC. The tricky part with corner pinning is you need 4 corners. I used the four inner bolts for my trackers but that means my full transparent PNG stop sign gets dropped in and squished to match the aspect and size of those 4 corners. I then needed to offset the scale and all for corners to resize the PNG to match the existing sign. By temporarily dropping the overall transparency of the PNG to 50% I was mostly able to match up the original sign and the PNG but it's tedious work.

I might have been able to make use of Match Move which only uses one tracker but there's enough rotation and angle shift in the hand held movement that it wouldn't have looked as smooth.

In two days with this new plug in I can already see that it will be a go-to tool for a lot of things - the ability to add tracking to most effects is powerful - as in the lens flare shot over the pond. In BCC version 8 which should be out in a couple months (free upgrade), they'll be putting Optical Stabilization back in (Vegas V11 broke that) and I'll finally have a stabilizer worth using again.

My only comment about the video is I'd like to have seen the turtle closer to the start, I kept wondering what the dog was doing. A shot of the turtle doing it's snapping thing would have been great too but I guess that'd require a lot of wrangling and maybe some risk.

Bob, you're right... an establishing shot of the turtle would have made it better (much like I tried to do with the sound FX in the opening title). The whole snapping turtle idea came after I had the video pretty much done. The turtle scene was actually taken on a different hike and I only found it at the end of my session and thought it would add a reason for my twitchy dog's reaction to every springy blade of grass or twig. I did have some footage of the turtle opening its mouth but that took some prodding with a stick which remained in the shots. I wish I got the shot of when my dog first found that snapper - it took a snap at her nose and I think it's the reason that she now jumps at every turtle-looking rock or most anything that surprises her on the trail.
