Boris FX, Vegas, Chroma Key and alpha channel

I have often read how people praise Boris FX and the chroma key because if "wraps the background colors around the object". If anyone of you read this, can you tell me if Boris FX is able to export only the object keyed out? And still maintain this effect of "wrapping the background"?

Let us say a person stands in front of a green-screen. I want to superimpose this on a beach scene. What I want Boris FX to "return" is the person only, the green-screen keyed out, but still with this allegedly super effect of wrapping the beach scene colors and light around the edges of the person.

The reason I want this is that I want to use the full power of the Vegas track tools, moving the person slightly, scaling, 2D shadow etc. AFTER the chroma-key effect has been added, worth to mention.

Thanks,
I am not on my multi media PC so I cannot test right now.

So it is possible to set this for the track? I have so far seen it for the media event.

Yes it can. The "BCC Light Wrap" fx in Boris FX needs a track in Boris to use as the light source. What you have to do is import the background footage into Boris to use the light wrap. Then you can tell Boris to hide the background track so that it only sends the keyed track with the alpha channel to Vegas but the light wrap remains on the keyed footage.

As powerful as Vegas is, I think you'll find that Boris FX gives you more precise control. In Boris you have a true 3D environment where you can manipulate the position of all of the tracks simultaneously instead of just one at a time like Vegas. You can position, move and scale and shadow, etc. far more easily. Take the time to learn Boris FX and you won't be disappointing.

Yeah, but Vegas is what I am using. Thanks for the tip, anyway, I will definitely have a closer look at it. And I am glad that I can use the alpha!
