BorisFX

Hi there,

I've been working with Vegas 15 until now, and in many projects I have been using plugins that are all gone in Vegas 22, does anybody know how to get for example the BorisFX stuff working again? The chromakeyer inside Vegas is way worse than the one from BorisFX I was using, which has many controls that the simple one in Vegas does not have...

Are the BorisFX plugins from the full BCC Suite or Units that you have purchased independently from BorisFX, or are they 'bonus extras' that came with Vegas Pro 15?

If the latter, it was not unknown for some 'bonus extras' packaged with Vegas Pro back in those days to be license-locked to the Vegas Pro version to which they were packaged; in other words, the bonus extras would not work in any other Vegas Pro versions, earlier or later.

The thing is that the BCC plugin package is stored in C:\Program Files\Common Files\OFX\Plugins and not, as far as I am aware. stored within C:\ drive folders for the particular Vegas Pro version.

To be honest I don't remember where I got them, but I think they came with Vegas at a certain point...
The documentation could be better with these packages, I downloaded a ton of 'transitions' and LUT's with Vegas 22 too, but I have no idea how to put them inside Vegas 22 yet...

Is there a way to activate the old BorisFX inside Vegas 22 then?

Re LUTs, there are two ways to use LUTs in Vegas Pro:

1. Use the Vegas Video FX named 'LUT Filter' where you would use the File Browse field to drill down to the folder where the LUTs are stored on your computer; or

2. Use the Look LUT feature in the Color Grade Panel, again using the Browse option to drill down to the folder where the LUTs are stored:

Hopefully, somebody else on the forum can advise about the transitions because there apparently is a bit of a process to use them - they apparently don't appear in the Transitions window like Vegas Pro's native transitions.

If the BCC Units are license-locked to Vegas Pro 15, then you'd need to purchase new fully licensed BCC OFX Units or the BCC OFX Suite from BorisFX - https://borisfx.com/products/continuum/ to get them to work in Vegas Pro 22 or any other Vegas Pro version as well as some other NLEs. BorisFX should also be able to advise if the BCC Units you currently have are indeed license-locked to Vegas Pro 15. If you need to purchase some Units or the Suite (and if you need to purchase 3 or more Units, the Suite may be a less expensive option), talk to BorisFX about if they can offer a deal to upgrade from what you have now. Also, BorisFX have for some years now offered Black Friday deals one of which is 25% off a one only single item purchase. Not long now to see if that Black Friday offer will become available this year.

As dexcon says, it is definitely worth asking BorisFX if they can offer an upgrade price from your unis to the full version. It's how I first got hold of the full Boris Continuum at a very reasonable price

Vegas Post 22.0 Build 239
Boris FX Continuum for OFX 2025 Build 18.0.1.303 - 74
Boris FX Mocha Pro Plug-in 2024.5 v11.5.1 Build 60
Windows 10 Pro - 64-Bit
ASUS PRIME Z390-P motherboard
Intel Core i7-97000K @ 3.6GHz
RAM 32GB (2x 16GB) 2666MHz DDR4
GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER

As others have written above, get the full version. I did this a few years ago and haven't looked back. I would buy Vegas Suites that would come each year with different BorisFX Units and had to remove the "old" units. During BorisFX Black Friday sale, I contacted their sales via email, was offered an upgrade to perpetual full Continuum Complete at a price I couldn't pass up. It was the best decision I could have made. Boris works with every version I have from VP14-22.

You have nothing to lose by waiting for the sales and emailing the sales department explaining your situation.
