I'm not sure... but I think it is illegal to install your friends software on your computer. (I am guessing you are using his S/N) Last I heard they were calling that stealing. --Not preaching just saying... excercise caution.
On your friends machine... does he have RED 3 Full or StandAlone? V5 Full or Trial? Does it show up in his Video FX or Transitions FX?
I too have Boris RED 3 & use it w/ VEGAS 4. I have been testing the trial of V5. I do not see Boris RED 3 in either the Video FX or Transitions palette of V5 so it may be that it doesn't show up till you purchase the full version of V5. (My RED 3 is the Full Version)
In my case do I need to reinstall it and point it to be used with V5? Should it just be recognized? Or am I in the same boat as WobblyBoy?
Is having it instaled it in 2 different directories bad?
I installed my friend Borris and found out that he won't plug in to Vegas
I could be wrong, but I think the original poster was exhibiting a breezy sense of humor, rather than a sinister desire to rip-off Sony. Now, if he had instead said: "I installed my friend, then it wouldn't be so funny. A small change in wording makes a big difference in meaning.
maybe this info would be of some help to somebody. i have the full version of graffiti and it does not plug in to vegas 5 trial (boxes version on the way). i tried running the instalaltion again but still would not plug into vegas. i took a look at the vegas 4 video plug ins folder and the vegas 5 video plug ins folder. in vegas 4, there are two dll files for graffiti but in vegas 5, there were two prm files but no graffiti dll's. i copied the 2 dll files from v4 into the v5 plug in folder, voila, it works now. i asked boris tech support if this was ok, the guy said if it runs fine, then it is fine.
