Does 19 have any additions to the usual stuff? I'm still getting the same type of fails as previous versions.

Which build of 19? What media do you use? I found 19.550 to be the most mature and stable, though other users had a good experience with the final build.
For tweaks in general leave it on defaults. Maybe try checking legacy AVC if you have problems with the GPU decoder and AVC media, or uncheck legacy HEVC for GoPro HEVC files.
I agree with Roger, leave it in the default settings except for the Legacy HEVC (File I/O).
Roger, I find it interesting you mentioned 19(550). My normal editing routine is to cut the video using 19(550) and then colorize and render it in 20 (139). It might sound cumbersome, but so is recovering from a half-dozen crashes with v20.
Hi Mark, my approach is similar as I also have 20 and like the new color grading features but it isn't stable with my system editing XAVCS.
