I made a small yellow ball with the cookie cutter then keyframed it but it was very time consuming. It helps to expand the timeline to keep everything in sync. You almost have to have the ball hit the next note prior to the sound to make it look right. I believe some of our very gifted forum members made some examples.

Probably track motion will be more straight forward.

Due to the curved path of a bouncing ball, this would require a lot of keyframes. It's possible, but would be very tedious. If it suits your needs, I would propose an alternative solution:

Using Color Corrector as an Event FX on the text event, change the text color from white to yellow (or whatever color you choose). Next, add a rectangular Pan/Crop mask around the first word. Set "Apply to FX" to Yes. Set the Mask keyframe motion type to Hold. Enable Sync cursor in the Pan/Crop keyframe timeline. Now place your timeline cursor at the point where the second lyric is sung. Reposition the Pan/Crop mask to cover the second word. Repeat for each lyric in the text event.

I can provide a sample VEG if you'd like.

The easiest way I can see doing this is to create one ball bounce event, w/ what ever image you want, or use a simple cookie cutter circle. Use pancrop and keyframes for one nice bounce. Render it out w/ alpha background.

-Bring the ball bounce clip into the main video.

-Place each ball bounce between lyrics on a separate track
-Use track motion to position. Speed up and slow down ball bounce event as needed. (hold Ctrl and drag the right side of the clip left to speed up, drag right to slow down)
-Another way to do this w/ out having separate tracks for each bounce is to have all to bounces on one track and use pan/crop to position the balls.
-The key for smooth transition for either method is to line up the end of the ball's bounce with the start of the next bounce. Once this is done you can copy and paste this segment and just change the speed of the bounces to match the lyrics.

You can have fun and get creative by using an intro and exit bounce w/ a fancy transition. (;

Easiest way to do a ball (I'd go with the forum admin's suggestion) is to use a 3D app or 2d motion graphics app to automatically handle the inbetweens for ya. You have more control over the curves.

Or ignore what everyone else said & use track motion instead of pan/crop.

For simple minded people like me do it is the simple way which is also called the crazy way.

Ball on 1 track x axis only move ball left to right = 2 keys
New track parent track y axis only = move only up and down = 4 keys

If you want the bounce to be more rounded and not sharp set key smooth 100% if you want it to be sharp set it to sharp 0

The rotation ball motion is in the pan crop window

If it’s like this
http://goo.gl/PYtDS

Then scrap all the above and use PTT

Type in your text and scroll
Type in a new text full stop make this big
on the full stop activate the x & y then as the text scrolls bounce it along = move it up and down use the arrow keys for increment movements

We’ve been asking the guys from Sony to add image ability in PTT this would then be a breeze.
