Bouncing From Vegas to other systems

One thing I come across often is transferring my projects to users with different workstations. Currently I got a guy with Cubase who wants to do a remix with my songs. Great, don't give a damn if he does. But the original tracks has 40+ tracks, dozens of edits, 8 bus mixes. I'm just not about to spend an afternoon bouncing everything to seperate (hopefully) synched wav tracks.

More often this comes up with local studios running their pro-tool setups. More and more I'm wanting to do hybrid, partially home, partially studio projects. And bouncing to and from vegas is a pain in the ass frankly.

I guess I have a feature request of saving in mult-platform project formats or save in a platform neutral format if such a thing exists.

How do you handle projects that have to travel to other systems?

Have a look at the free VASST Trackalizer here.

The in-built AAF export in Vegas is one option.

ProTools users can import and export AAF files, make sure the media is not embedded but output to a separate folder which the AAF file references as ProTools doesn't like embedded AAFs.

For other programs EDL Convert is the best option for cross-converting between different DAWs.
Unfortunately it was purchased by Solid State Logic recently and, although they have improved the program adding additional compatible platforms and formats, the price increased to $699US.

It is a great conversion program though and would allow you to convert directly to and from Vegas to ProTools, OMF, Wavelab, Sadie, Audition, Cubase, Final Cut Pro, Logic and more.

Thanks for both responses. Trackalizer is a nice find. I'm sure there are times I'll use it. Though it doesn't quite meet my needs.

I wasn't aware of AAF, I'll look into it.

EDL convert, its good to be aware of it. Not sure I'm ready to pay 700, but I guess it depends who you want to work with this week.
