I'm burnng a DL dvd, I had to put a break layer manually, Given the few information provided I chose a chapter marker. Final result? All my menus (scene selections) after the inserted layer break point shifted forward....Am I doing something wrong?
There is actually a lot of information provided in the manual (not the quick start guide). You can download the manual here on sony's website for DVDA. I have never experienced a problem with what I believe you are describing. Although I am not quiet sure I understand your problem. If it simply moved your chapter markers say 5 seconds foward on the timeline after the layer break, go back in and move them 5 seconds back. You will only have to do this once and save it. If it is moving your thumbnail pictures on the scene selection to a different part of the timeline, you can adjust this as well in DVDA to get it back to what you wanted it to display. The manual is a handy piece of litature.
Layer breaks can only occur at specific points (best between titles or at chapter points. When there is more than one candidate DVDA3 gives you the option to choose which candidate to use. If DVDA3 can not find a candidate it will list the start time and end time and you have to insert a title or chapter point. If there are no candidates and you let DVDA3 choose the layer break DVDA3 will create a chapter point which will shift all your chapter points. I have not tried this option but it sounds like that what is happening to you. I don't use this option because I want control over where the layer break is located. Caveat: Do not fill the DL to capacity or you may not end up with any candidates and you will have to change the order on the disk. The more unused space you have on the disk the more DVDA3 can pad the image to position a chapter point or title change on the layer break. You want to keep all your navigation stuff on the first layer so you don't do a lot of layer changing. Try to keep the contiguous stuff on the second layer. Does all this make sense?

PS DVDA3 has always put the layer break at the point I picked and I have never had the chapter points moved. Remember DVDA3 has to pad the image to make a candidate line up with the layer break. That is why it is important not to fill the DL to capacity. Sometimes things just don't work out and you have to add a chapter point. Then you have to change your scene selection menus...
Thank guys for your help, it seems my problem is that I'm trying to fill almost all the capacity of the DL DVD (8.4gb), for this reason DVDA is unable to find the right point by itself. Anyway, I think Sony should create an specific type of break layer mark instead of using chapter marks. I moved one of my original chapters to the interval recommended by DVDA but it didn't work either.
What do you mean by "change the order in the disk"?, please explain to me!
The order I am referring to the the order of the movies by size. You want the largest movie on the second layer. Add the movies to the project with the largest movies last. You can change the default button highlight by moving the titles after they are entered in the correct order by size.
