Broadcast Safe Values RGB and IRE for PAL world?

PDB wrote on 5/4/2004, 4:02 AM
Would appreciate if some kind soul could point me in the right direction as to where I can research/get to know the maximum RGB values (and whether these max values are valid throught the colour spectrum....) and/or IRE values applicable in PAL land...

(I've read about the 16-235 rgb for NTSC and a the minimum of 7.5 IRE, but have not been lucky finding the equivalents for PAL.)

The reason behind this request is to save on correction when importing graphics done in other programmes....

Many thanks in advance,

All the best,

Paul.

It's 16-235 for PAL. But if this refers to your latest DVD project - just don't care about it. Most PAL TVs here are able to use signals higher than RGB 235 up to 255. And almost any PAL DVD player does automatically filter values below RGB 16 und over RGB 235.

In Vegas you could also use the Broadcast Colors filter. Select the "Lenient" preset, that's o.k. Even a bit better if you then set all the Smoothness values to "1,000".
But as mentioned above - if this is for home DVDs you needn't use the Broadcast Colors filter.
