Broadcast wave support?

My Mackie HDR2496 has recently been upgraded to store audio in the broadcast wave format (i.e. timestamped so it's possible to line up punches without redering the entire track). When I attemp to add one of these files in Vegas, hte media pool indicates that the file starts at 00:00:00:000 not at the true time. They always are inserted at the current insert point. These files will spot themselves correctly in ProTools, so I belive they're formatted correctly.

The questio: Does Vegas support broadcast wave timestamped files, and if so how do I get them sptted in the correct place on the timeline.

I don't think Vegas currently has this feature. I'm really hoping for it to come up in the next version, because Broadcast wave is really powerful (and soon to be a must for any software that wants to be considered pro).

Would anyone from SF chime in on this one?

Thanks,

"Time stamping" and the ability to resynch media to original record position in a timeline [which is possible with bwf] is a feature I've requested since v1.0a...

Apparently, SF doesn't see the point...

If SF could write an import feature for Mackie HD, Alesis HD, Tascam HD standalone drives we'd all be in heaven!

Keeping prodding for timestamping support...Maybe by version 5.

Well, I won't be around for version 5. I'm still smarting from buying Vegas Audio and being pushed to "upgrade" to Vegas Video within 2 months.

Too bad, it coulda been a contenda.

We are in the middle of a debate on just this issue....

I'm just curious and with all due respect, what possible hardships could implementing this feature cause to SoFo? ; )

If it helps you make a choice....

Sonar 2.1 update will include Broadcast Wave support.

No hardships per se, just time and schedules are effected when new features are added.

I too have an SDR, would like to import the files in Vegas Video, and export back ot the HD recorder ---- Then I could have 24 more tracks to play back on mixdown, or more, so It will total 32+24 tracks total... I wouldn't have to deal with computer crashing when recording to Vegas Video.....

Just to add my voice - I also made requests to SF (via a number of detailed emails) -for "sync to original time"/"Time stamping" in Version 1.0 - the reply was why would you want to do that.
As I now do all my recording on the MX2424 - Vegas is of Little real use to me until this feature is included, I am having to use Sonar2.x which has limited B'wav export and Time placement but no "move back to original time" function which Vegas as a Video edit prog' surely should have by now.

Isn't Broadcast Wave Support something that could be acheived using scripts in Vegas 4?
