Thought I'd just toss this out there and see if any otgher folks have run into it.
I was getting random blue screens in a CD/DVD burning driver. I hesitated to install the patch form the website poited to by MSFT. Eventually I got sick of the BSODs and installed the patch. BSODs gone but now DVDA2 will not burn, it cannot even see the DVD burner. Luckily nero works fine so that's not much of a problem.
My system is an AMD Athlon64 3400+ on an Asus K8VSE Delux, 1GB DDR400, Radoen 9800pro, SB Audigy2, TDK Indi 4x DVD burner.
