Bug: adding scene selection creates multiples of file exceeding disk space. Original file--no audio.

The problem:

Referring to the Optimize DVD window, when a scene selection menu is created from a file that has *no audio* (or later, the audio is deleted), a duplicate of the original file is added for each marker/chapter. If there are 10 markers/chapters, then 10 duplicates plus the original (each consuming disk space) are created. This does not occur with movies with audio.

Test example:

movie.mpg video source
movie.mpg audio source
Note: movie.mpg has five chapter/markers (from Vegas).

1. Add movie to menu.
2. Add scene selection.
3. Look at Optimize DVD window.
- Should see: three line items
Main Menu 1MB
Scene Selection 1MB
Movie 15.8MB (example file size is 15.8MB)
4. Delete audio in media properties window.
5. Look at Optimize DVD window, again.
- Should see the following:
Main Menu 1MB
Scene Selection 1MB
Movie 15.8MB (original)
Movie 15.8MB (new)
Movie 15.8MB (new)
Movie 15.8MB (new)
Movie 15.8MB (new)
Movie 15.8MB (new)
One "Movie" for each chapter/marker has been created.
If there are 20 chapters, then 20 duplicates will be created.

This can be a problem if "movie" is 1GB and there are 20 chapters = 21Gb which exceeds the allowed disk space.

Conclusion:

DVD Arch is confused by files that have no audio and when creating scene selections. I have not figured out how to work around this problem. I am hoping that it is operator error.

Please help!

Summary of what I am doing:

I am converting old 8mm and super 8 movies to DVD. I captured the movies with my digital camcorder, edited them in Vegas, and plan to burn them to DVDs using DVD Arch. There was no audio with the original movies. So, I decided to not add audio to the movies and to allocate the whole DVD disk space to video. That way, I can get the best video results.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I will let you know if the patch works.
