[BUG] an interface interaction issue causes playback to fail

zzzzzz9125 wrote on 4/10/2024, 5:47 AM

This should be a common problem. In short, if Win+D is pressed twice, you will not be able to play the project.

See:

This bug can be easily reproduced. It can be solved when "Close media files when not the active application" in Preferences is unchecked, which is not a permanent solution however.

Hope this will be solved in the next release.

I have 'Close media files when not the active application' unticked but still get the same non playback of the project when Win+D is pressed twice.

I have close media files when not the active application checked.

I pressed it once and then again to return to VEGAS and can play the media.

I then played the media, went to the desktop and the media remained playing. I then went back into VEGAS and it's still responsive and playing.

This test was with my laptop. Is there anything special about the project to make it not work?

@RogerS I tried it on that 10bit hevc gopro file i shared in another post, I then tried it on an avc mp4 & a prores .mov, Same thing happens, Win+D to show desktop - Win+D again to show Vegas, timeline won't play, I haven't tried turning 'Close media files when not the active application' to being ticked yet.

Windows 10.

It seems to have nothing to do with the specific projects or imported files. I just started a random new project and this happened even though I haven't imported the files yet...

If it helps, here's the information about my PC:

Brand Name: HP VICTUS Laptop
System: Windows 11.0 (64-bit) 10.00.22631
CPU: 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-12700H
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop GPU
GPU Driver: NVIDIA Studio Driver 551.86
Vegas Pro Version: 21 build 300

It shouldn't be due to 21 build 300 though. I've encountered it before, but I didn't know why, just restarted Vegas. It wasn't until today that I discovered the trick to triggering this bug.

By the way, if I don't press Win+D and instead click "Show Desktop" in the bottom right corner, it works fine.

We do have this bug in our database. It has existed for a while. VEGAS is not properly handling the Win+D command and thus not getting the expected notification for the activation of the application.
