BUG: Export CC for Youtube - bad timecode

OldaC wrote on 12/6/2018, 4:13 AM

When I exported CC for Youtube, the generated file is using bad timecodes.

Reproduction of error: rendering CC with time cursor set 00:00:00 placed in the middle of the timeline.

Did you try if this is due to your timeline start is set to a negative timecode value?

OldaC wrote on 12/6/2018, 4:39 AM

As I wrote, it happens only if i start Subtitle export in the middle of the timeline (but with time cursor 00:00:00:00 at right position).

When I export subtitles from the begining of the project timeline, there is no problem with subtitles timecode.

Did you check the timecode written in the CC file?

My guess is when generating the CC file Vegas Pro simply counts the frames from the start of the timeline, no matter what TC value you set the timeline start to.

If you will check the attached file in the first post, you will see.

In your screenshot the marker itself and the code doesn't match, so this does not seem to help.

From my experience, the CC files will always create a file for the whole timeline. It is a script separate from rendering options. You might be able to alter the script to force it to create the CC from the selected area.

Yes, I just tested it. It's what I guessed before:
When generating the SRT file, Vegas Pro always counts the frames from the very beginning of the timeline to the CC marker position while it ignores any selfmade timecode shifts of the timeline display.

Same is for Vegasaur and it's Marker to YouTube Subtitle exporter. It also just counts the frames from the beginning of the timeline to the marker positions.

Marco, that is what I thought. It is a basic frame count, not a timecode reference.

Yes, Vegas is using timecode from begining of the project, but it is a bug.

Open CC record in Vegas and you will see right timecode based on timecode cursor value. (value of Position item in CC dialog). But for the export script, Vegas ignore timecode cursor settings and always count timecode from begining of the project.
