Build 356 Timeline issues when dragging .mov files

Craig-Bain wrote on 12/23/2025, 8:55 PM

In the latest version of Vegas Pro Build 356 .mov files require an additional FX plugin to have it viewed correctly in the video preview monitor ……. The preset “Computer RGB to Studio RGB” is required ?? It also has 126 additional Audio tracks ??

What has changed and how can I fix this please

The latest official build is 302, build 356 is withdrawn due to severe bugs. To temporary fix the issue you discover uninstall build 356 and reinstall build 302. Probably the next official build will fix your issue permanently.

@Craig-Bain I don't quite understand this. What kind of .mov file is it? Please share MediaInfo and/or a sample for download.

VP 23 now reads the color space data of the file and converts it to a viewing space. However if the file metadata is wrong (or there is a bug with VEGAS) it won't look right. I assume you are using 8-bit full mode. No that levels preset is not required.

For audio tracks this really sounds like there's an issue with this type of file and VEGAS. Again, metadata and a sample file for testing would be great.

Thanks 3POINT & Roger for your quick responses .... 3POINT you were onto it !! Bit further investigation also told me that build 356 had been withdrawn on the 18th December due to severe bugs. Annoying that when I pay a Vegas Pro 365 Subscription, Magix didn't actually advise me of this or even offer a roll back on the software, its usually so clever to offer upgrades and extras !!

FYI Roger and as requested its a 1hr 49min PRO RES file with single PCM Audio Stream, ENGLISH 122 mb/s, 1920 x 1080 (16:9) at 25 fps Prores (Version 0) (422), Audio 18.4 Mb/s, 48 kHz, 24 Bit, 16 channels, PCM (Little/signed) ....... which previously I had had no issues with :)

Merry CHristmas and thanks for the feedback :)

Thanks, ProRes had known issues with gamma in build 356. I hadn't seen issues with audio channels though. If you could share a short file for testing it could be useful for the developers.
