Build 726 - Everything is gone to pot!

D.Anne wrote on 10/10/2013, 12:41 AM
Am I the only one who has been blindsided by 726? After installing 726 I could not run Vegas, Sound Forge or Spectral Layers without using admin privileges.

Now that I am able to run them Vegas will talk to Sound Forge, and Spectral Layers will talk to Sound Forge, but Sound Forge won't talk to Spectral Layers.

DVD Architect 5.2 gave up and wouldn't run at all and had to be removed and re-installed.

I never had serious problems before but now I'm singing the Sony Blues like everyone else.

Support keeps sending me things to try but nothing helps. After spending thousands on this software is this the end of Sony for me?

I use MSE for virus and malware protection and do a full scan weekly. I don't think it is likely that I have been attacked by anything but update 726.

Since the update, Vegas has been crashing frequently.

Anyone know how to go back to an older, stable, version?

Mike set up a DropBox of earlier ones here.

Grazie

Seriously? People delete their earlier versions??

Uninstalling, of course -- but you don't delete the installation file from your Downloads folder, do you? I would keep it in case of problems.

I've always kept earlier versions (V8, V9 etc) but also all of the earlier builds. It's just asking for grief to get rid of them - especially before you're concrete with the latest one!

Ive heard that installing some NLE with an AV Software running can cause havoc
snapdragon wrote on 10/12/2013, 8:17 PM
Notice a weird instability and despite the suggestions to reinstall it remains!!!
When trying to play back 480p widescreen renders the preview screen has a green band across the top and the preview window shimmers, still no solution!

Thank you! Will give it a try.

The other thread mentioned out of memory errors. I'm seeing that as well despite having 16GB of RAM and Vegas taking less than 1GB, while the system reports much less than 16GB used.

The interesting thing is it appears to be a Windows error message and the entire OS becomes unstable.

snapdragon, this 480p widescreen decoding is now fixed in build 765. Thanks for reporting it and apologies that it took so long to fix...

Always make a complete system drive backup BEFORE you upgrade/update Vegas or any software!

I make multiple clones of my boot drive so if things go bad all I have to do is replace my current boot drive with a backup drive and things will be as if nothing bad ever happened.

Yes, I know I post this often but people just don't seem to realize the need for this.

I wish there was a sticky on this forum about making a system backup BEFORE upgrading/updating Vegas!

The backups are also a great idea in case the system drive should fail. Saves a ton of time getting back up again.

An NLE system should NEVER be run without system backups!

No, John, I can and do use Google and did the same search. I was wanting to know the use of the term in the context of this thread. Do you have you an idea or can you shed some light?

Grazie

Do you have you an idea or can you shed some light?I assume you are pulling my leg. If you don't know that expression, it means you are kidding me. If you don't know what kidding means, it has nothing to do with children or goats but means you are trying to make fun of me. If you don't know what "make fun of me" means, it doesn't mean that you are trying to physically rearrange me so that I look like fun ...

... I give up.

P.S. Tom's post is exactly correct. You and he can carry on this conversation.

I just did a google search for "NVIDIA driver 296.10" The very first item is a reference to the driver download. Still available.
