I am having the same problem with *.m2t files.

Using two *.m2t files, Cam-1.m2t and Cam-2.m2t. Each one is 01:11:27.283 in length.

What happens is that it is creates two peak files instead of one for each file. So for Cam-1 I get Cam-1.m2t.sfk0 and Cam-1.m2t.sfk1 files. Why two *.sfk files instead just one? Total time to build the peaks for both cams is 18 minutes and 53 seconds.

I am not sure if this is a bug or something for the new trimmer features or what. The extra long time to build the peaks is because it is building them twice and thus takes twice as long,

If I delete either one of those *.sfk files and load the *.m2t file Vegas will rebuild the peaks. So for whatever reason, Vegas needs both of those files and makes us wait twice as long to build them.

Not Good!!!

Am I to assume that only two people are having this problem?

They added support for 4 channel HDV audio from the S270 in 8.0c. That could have something to do with it.

evening bob,

don't you have a bed to go to?

is there anyway of turning dual peak building off? i mean it takes twice as long to build and double the space?

seems silly if not needed?

"don't you have a bed to go to?"

I don't have to get up with the roosters :)

Beyond that I haven't a clue, sorry.
